About Jesus - Steve (Stephen) Sweetman Someone
Is Praying For You I'm sure someone is
praying for you. Maybe many
people are praying for you, but someone very special is also praying for
you. Read Romans 8:26 and 27. "In the same way,
the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray
for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And
he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the
Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of
God." Due to us being weak and
not always knowing how to pray, Paul said that someone is praying for you,
and that someone is God, but how does God pray to God?
In context, I believe
the pronoun "he" in the phrase "he who searches our
hearts" refers to God in heaven.
God, searches your heart, and as He does, He sees and hears
the intercessory groans of His Spirit within you.
Since God the Father and God the Spirit are one in essence, these
intercessory groans tell me that God is groaning to God, making up for
your weakness. Who is better
qualified to pray for you than God?
I've heard some of the
Pentecostal persuasion say that this groaning is a Christian praying in
tongues. That can't be.
For those who have the gift of tongues, those utterances may be
inspired by the Holy Spirit, but they are spoken by a person, not the
Spirit. Besides, the text
states that these groans cannot be verbalized.
They are wordless, directly from God's Spirit. Just prior to Paul telling us about the groans of the Spirit, Paul wrote that both Christians and all of creation groan in eager anticipation for the day Christians and creation will undergo a recreation. It's nice to know that God is groaning alongside of us and creation as we all await that day.
In modern
terms, you might say that we are all in sync with each other.
Talk about syncing your high tech devices together.
This is the ultimate form of syncing.
God in heaven, His Spirit within you, and you yourself, are all in
sync. So there you go.
If you are a Christian, someone is praying for you, even if no one else is.
You can't beat that.
