About Jesus - Steve Sweetman Was
Jesus Really Born? Every December
25th, whether Christian or commercial, much of the western world
celebrates Christmas in one form or another.
For the record, Jesus wasn't born on December 25th.
That date is more pagan than Christian, but laying that aside, was
Jesus really born? No, this
isn't a trick question. It's a
theological question that gets to the core of what Christmas and being a
Christian is all about. Colossians 1:15
through 18 states that Jesus is the image of the invisible God.
He created all things in heaven and on earth, whether visible or
invisible, and, all of God's fullness lives in Jesus.
Hebrews 1:3 states that Jesus is the exact representation of God.
John 1:1 says that Jesus is both with God and is God, all at the
same time. The above passages
and others like them, speak to what Christians call the Deity of Christ.
That means that Jesus was, is, and always will be, just as much God
as God His Father is God. That
makes Jesus eternal, without beginning or without end (Revelation 1:8).
In one real sense of the word, Jesus was never born.
His entrance into humanity was just a transition from one state of
being to another. This is the
one and only true Jesus. There
is no other. If this Jesus is
not central to your belief, you believe in someone who does not exist.
For all who have
given ourselves to the Lord Jesus Christ, have a very blessed Christmas.
