About Jesus Steve Sweetman
A
Dizzy State Of For
various reasons some Christians say we shouldn't be
overly concerned with unsettling world events because God has all things
under control, and that He does. Besides
God being supreme over all things, have you considered how His having
control is practically worked out in unsettling world events? Isaiah
19:14 reads; "The Lord has poured into them (Egyptians) a spirit of
dizziness; they make "I
will make boys their officials, mere children will govern them".
(Isaiah 3:4) Note that it's
God who placed immature leaders into positions of authority in "I
will make it a wasteland; neither pruned nor cultivated … I will command the clouds not to rain upon it". (Isaiah
5:6) Note that it's God who
causes these ecological disasters.
A
serious study of the Bible will show you that God causes all kinds of
ecological, economic, military, governmental, and other disasters.
He does so to implement His will in judgment.
Of course, this isn't visible to the naked eye of the Biblically
illiterate. They view these
unsettling events in terms of climate change, a down turn in the
economy, terrorism, poor leadership, and more.
On
a daily basis we see reports of unsettling events in When
Jesus told us that satan is the prince of this world, (John 12:31,
14:30, 16:11) He gave us a bit of a clue to how unsettling world events
shows that God is in control. Satan
assigns demonic "principalities and powers" over specific
regions and nations as the Apostle Paul puts it in Ephesians 6:12.
This tells us that the real fight isn't taking place in the
hallowed halls of It's
a Biblical fact that God is in control of all things.
In part, this is realized when He hands a society bent on sin
over to the sins of their choice. (Romans 1:24 – 27)
By so doing, God steps back from that society which allows the
satanic forces assigned to that society to move in and have their way.
By stepping back, God sets in motion the unsettling and dizzying
demonic events as a form of judgment.
Revelation
6:1 and 2 says. "I watched as the Lamb (Jesus) opened the seventh
seal. Then I heard one of
the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, 'Come'! I
looked and there before me was a white horse!
Its rider held a bow and he was given a crown, and he rode out as
a conquer bent on conquest". Note
that this evil conqueror, who many see as the anti-Christ, can do
absolutely nothing but wait until he is given permission to
"come". Only after
hearing the word "come" from the lips of the living creature
can he escape his pen and cause havoc on the earth.
God is certainly in control, even in control of the anti-Christ.
I warn you ahead of time; when Jesus says "come" to
evil spirits, take cover. A
spirit of dizzy drunkenness is only the beginning of the unsettling
events to come. I
remind you of what Jesus soberly told those who followed Him in Luke
12:56. "Hypocrites!
You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the
sky. How is it that you
don't know how to interpret the present times"?
It's clear that Jesus wants our eyes of understanding opened to
what's going on around us, both in the physical world and in the
spiritual world. We can't
hide our heads in the sand of ignorance, indifference, or a new age
positive thinking philosophy that believes good thoughts will make it
all disappear. It won't
disappear until the Lord Jesus Christ is finished working behind the
scene of the affairs of men and nations to accomplish His will.
Therefore, to my American friends, know that the present
distressful deadlock in One
of the last unsettling events foretold in Scripture that demonstrates
God being in total control is seen in Isaiah 13:13.
"I will make the heavens tremble, the earth will shake from
its place at the wrath of the Lord Almighty …"
Beyond this most unsettling universal event that brings deadly
dizziness lies a new heaven and a new earth where only blessed events
will reign supreme. Just
remember what Jesus said. When
you begin to see thee major unsettling events take place, know that the Yes,
God is in control because He is actively involved in the affairs of men
and nations to accomplish His will.
You can count on that.
